Handwritten letter in ink from William Cogswell to W. W. Crapo, dated 27 July 1872.  Cogswell is writing because his father was a 1/128th owner of the ship Commonwealth which was destroyed by Florida and thus possibly covered by the Alabama Claims - Cogswell is asking whether or not there is still time for him to make a claim.
