Typewritten memorandum by E. Barrett Prettyman, Jr., summarizing cases before the court during the second half of the October 1954 term. The accompanying handwritten note by Prettyman explains: "Several weeks after Justice Jackson had a heart attack in _____, 1954, while he was still in Doctor's Hospital, I went to see him to bring him up to date on the Court's business. The enclosed memorandum is what I took with me -- thoroughly condensing the cases so as not to take up too much time. The penciled notations were based on the Justice's suggestions given to me at the hospital."
